Motion Sensor Lights for Home Security and Safety
Motion Sensor light works as an essential part of security alarm system in the recent days. These lighting sensors work on systems which are capable of detecting movement and also capable of sensing human body temperature. Sensors often work best placed at a right angle to the path the person is moving in. For example when someone is walking across the sensor beam then it recognizes and gives the alert.
What is motion sensor lighting?
Motion sensors have achieved a vast recognition as an important part of home security systems. Main feature of motion detector sensor is it can recognize the sound, movement, light through infrared by recognizing the reflection of transmitted body. If motion sensors do not detect any movement in a particular area it assumes that no one is in the room and puts off the lights. Such technology can save your money and energy. In lighting automation such sensing functionality is called as “Presence Detectors” or “Vacancy Sensors”.
How the sensor lighting works?
Before deciding on any home security product it is very essential to understand the working strategy behind the product. Lighting sensor works on a simple feature detector, it is programmed in such a manner if it recognizes any sudden movement or variation in the temperature it sends. They detect movement through infrared or sound waves or through an accelerometer. Then they trigger an electronic response, such as turning on a light, opening a door, starting an alarm, or causing a movement in a video.
How can these motion sensors detect the movement?
Motion sensors are mainly used in household and commercial infrastructures. Let us see what the features of these detectors are and on what basis do they work
Infrared Waves
Infrared motion detectors use infrared waves. Infrared rays are not visible to human eye but any object that produce heat generates infrared waves. Motion detectors can rectify the variation in infrared waves and triggers an electronic response. Window and door alarms are functioned to use IR waves and are called as passive sensors.
Sound Waves
Some detectors are sound-wave based. Such devices continuously emit waves if it is disturbed, then it triggers. Trigger may activate the action such as to open the automatic door. These are called as active motion detectors.
Accelerometers
Accelerometers are computer chips attached controller or a hand-held device such as a smart phone. Such device or phone could access the internet on your computer also. This process is known as tethering. By connecting your phone through a USB cable to your computer you can browse movement on screen.
Why You Need Motion Sensor Lights in Your Home?
- Firstly, sensor lighting will help you in saving your electricity bill, since it operates robotically and turns off the lights if there is no movement in the area. Hence a motion sensor assists us in conserving lighting loads and energy in frequent moving areas in your house like corridors, passages, staircases etc.
- Motion Sensor ensures safe protection all around your home, it can sense the movement of any trespasser and lights your lawn which can alert you and sometime the burglar may also abscond by frightening about the situation.
- Other feature is that if you come home in late night dark then the lights will automatically get on in the particular area light so that you will be assisted to find keyhole to open your key and enter your home safely.
- Beside this you can still decide for how long the lights should stay on once they light up after detecting movement, in addition to it you can use the timer to put on and off the evening lawn lights by scheduling the timing. This feature will help you in saving electricity as well as the lighting automation is taken care off as a guard.
By this time you are with the complete knowledge on importance and the functionality of how lighting motion sensor works and could avail the maximum benefit of such systems.
